The Plasmid Biology and Evolution lab is part of the Department of Microbial Biotechnology in the CNB in Madrid.

Welcome to the PBE lab led by Alvaro San Millan (Centro Nacional de Biotecnología – CSIC, Madrid)
The PBE lab is based in the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología – CSIC, Madrid. If you are interested in working with us, get in touch.
Check out some of the cool microbiology we see on an average day!
In the PBE lab we study the role of plasmids as catalysts of bacterial evolution, with a special focus on the evolution of plasmid-mediated antibiotic resistance.
In PLASREVOLUTION we will study the evolution of plasmid-mediated antibiotic resistance.
New review paper on the fitness effects of plasmids.
We have attended FEMS and ESEB conferences.
The PBE lab has been invited to the 27th ECCMID in Vienna.
Two new members, Carmen and Javi, join the PBE lab.
