The Plasmid Biology and Evolution lab is part of the Department of Microbial Biotechnology in the CNB in Madrid.

Welcome to the PBE lab led by Alvaro San Millan (Centro Nacional de Biotecnología – CSIC, Madrid)
The PBE lab is based in the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología – CSIC, Madrid. If you are interested in working with us, get in touch.
Check out some of the cool microbiology we see on an average day!
In the PBE lab we study the role of plasmids as catalysts of bacterial evolution, with a special focus on the evolution of plasmid-mediated antibiotic resistance.
New paper on the evolution of plasmid-mediated antibiotic resistance.
In this new paper we explored the transcriptomic and metabolic responses of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 to different plasmids.
Jero was awarded with a Project Grant from the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy
The PBE lab publishes a new paper in Nature Ecology and Evolution.
