The Plasmid Biology and Evolution lab is part of the Department of Microbial Biotechnology in the CNB in Madrid.

Welcome to the PBE lab led by Alvaro San Millan (Centro Nacional de Biotecnología – CSIC, Madrid)
The PBE lab is based in the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología – CSIC, Madrid. If you are interested in working with us, get in touch.
Check out some of the cool microbiology we see on an average day!
In the PBE lab we study the role of plasmids as catalysts of bacterial evolution, with a special focus on the evolution of plasmid-mediated antibiotic resistance.
This time we went to Utrecht to be part of an exciting workshop.
Alvaro attended the 1st iResist Meeting at Sommarøy, 8-10 May 2019.
Our plasmid-bacterium puzzle made it to the cover of Trends in Microbiology.
Jero received this prestigious prize to the best young researcher in plasmid biology.
We have attended the Plasmid Biology conference in Seattle and the Evolution meeting in Montpellier.
